Due to an event, the reading rooms at Heldenplatz will close on Sunday, Sept. 6, at 5 p.m.
The Papyrus Museum welcomes visitors also on Monday, August, 24, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Some books of the Department of Papyri can not be ordered online due to their conditions of preserve or other reasons. You can order and read all these books directly in the reading room of the Department of Papyri.

Some books in the Department of Papyri can only be consulted in the collection's special reading room. These books will be handed out to you in the collection's reading room. In this regard, please note the shorter opening hours of the collection.
Your day ticket or annual membership card is only valid in the reading room of the Department of Papyri. To visit the Papyrus Museum you need a separate entrance ticket. You can purchase it directly at the service desk Heldenplatz or conveniently in our ticket shop.
