Annual maintenance work will take place again this summer, which is why the reading rooms at the Heldenplatz location and in all collections will be closed from Saturday, July 26, to Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
Due to the shutdown of the ordering system, no media orders can be accepted from Friday, July 24, 2026, 4 p.m. to Wednesday, August 5, 2026, 4 p.m. The regular opening hours will then apply again from Thursday, August 6, 2026.
The study room of the Albertina is closed from July 15 to August 15, 2026.
Your library card is valid for the Map Department and the Library Regulations of the Austrian National Library apply.
You will normally receive pre-ordered books within 20 minutes in the Reading Room of the Map Department. Maps and views will be made available for you in the Reading Room on the next day the library is open.
Please appreciate that the use of certain particularly valuable items that require extra protection is subject to conservation restrictions. In exceptional cases and where there is justifiable academic interest, you can send a written request to use them to the Department Director.
A coin-operated photocopier is available in the Reading Room for making photocopies, provided there are no conservation reasons or regulations preventing this. In such cases, we will prepare scans, photographs or microfilm copies for you. Prices can be found in our Price List.
