Augustinian Reading Room

Due to an event, from June 17 to 18, 2026, the Augustinian Reading Room service will take place in the Study Reading Room of the Department of Manuscripts and Rare Books.

Globe and Esperanto Museum

Due to an event, the Globe Museum, the Esperanto Museum and the reading room of the Collection of Planned Languages will not open until 11 a.m. on June 24, 2026.

State Hall

Due to an event, the State Hall will already close at 4 p.m. on June 25, 2026.

Using the Map Department

Using

Your library card is valid for the Map Department and the Library Regulations of the Austrian National Library apply.

You will normally receive pre-ordered books within 20 minutes in the Reading Room of the Map Department. Maps and views will be made available for you in the Reading Room on the next day the library is open.

Please appreciate that the use of certain particularly valuable items that require extra protection is subject to conservation restrictions. In exceptional cases and where there is justifiable academic interest, you can send a written request to use them to the Department Director.

Reproductions

A coin-operated photocopier is available in the Reading Room for making photocopies, provided there are no conservation reasons or regulations preventing this. In such cases, we will prepare scans, photographs or microfilm copies for you. Prices can be found in our Price List.

Loans for exhibitions

Please send your written request to our Department Director.
 
Required information includes:

  •     Requested items, if possible with reference numbers
  •     Name of the borrowing organisation
  •     Title of the exhibition
  •     Location of the exhibition
  •     Duration of the exhibition
