The Picture Archives and Graphics Department is with approximately 3 million objects Austria's largest image documentation centre. It is an archive, library, scientific image agency and service centre for image orders from almost all holdings of the Austrian National Library.
In addition to a wide variety of holdings in the fields of photography and graphic art, the collection also includes the former family library of the House of Habsburg-Lorraine. The modern open-access library offers extensive literature on topics such as art, genealogy and history.
