As one of Austria’s outstanding cultural institutions, the Austrian National Library strives to play a leading role in social issues too. It is committed to the advancement of women and considers itself responsible for implementing family-friendly and health-promoting initiatives.
The berufundfamilie audit is a three-year process to assess, develop and optimize the compatibility of work and family. Appropriate measures in line with employees’ needs are planned, implemented and regularly evaluated by an internal working group.
Already in 2008, the Austrian National Library was the first cultural institution to obtain the basic berufundfamilie certificate. Full certification took place in 2011, with recertification in 2014, 2017, 2020 and 2023.
This distinction encourages us in our efforts to further improve and expand family-friendly and health-promoting measures to remain an attractive employer also in the future.
