Brief description

In the cooperation project DiTAH (Digital Transformation in Austrian Humanities) the Austrian National Library, as the most important provider of digitised Austrian cultural heritage, together with members of other well-known Austrian science institutions, is working on specific solutions in the provision of digital data for the humanities. The aim is to create teaching and communication resources from the data stocks created by digitisation and to convey the methods used for this in university teaching and the associated knowledge to the general public.

This interdisciplinary Digital Humanities project collects, processes, and analyses representations of Ottoman “nature” (flora, fauna, landscapes) in a multilingual corpus of 2,000 travelogues, mainly prints in the holdings of the Austrian National Library.

Brief description

The purpose of the ODL (Open Digital Libraries for creative users)-project is to build capacity for using digital library collections creatively. The National Libraries of The Netherlands, Austria and Estonia are all part of multiple European networks and found each other in their shared interest to see the digital age as an opportunity to open up their institutions to creatives and artists. With this project, the partners intend to deliver examples of artistic and creative deployment of library collections. The results will be shared for wider usage in the collective network of libraries on local and international levels.

Brief description
The Austrian National Library and many other cultural heritage institutions are increasingly relying on the IIIF technology to make their data available to the public. The project "Machine Learning Suite for IIIF Resources" creates an environment with which machine learning applications can be developed particularly efficiently around these kind of data sets. Instructions and tutorials, which will be created during the project, will enable the environment to be configured as easily as possible and thus facilitate its use for end users.
