With over three million objects of various historical types of media, the Picture Archives and Graphics Department is Austria’s largest centre of pictorial documentation. It is an archive, library, scientific picture agency and reproduction service point for picture orders from all the departments of the Austrian National Library.

Closing time from July 25 until August 5, 2022
Due to revision works the facilities of the readings rooms at Heldenplatz and all departments are closed from Monday, July 25 until Friday, August 5 2022.
Due to shutdown of the ordering system no orders of media can be accepted from Friday, July 22 until Friday, August 5 2022, 8 a.m. The first processing of books takes place on Friday, August 5 2022.
