Masks are no longer required in all indoor spaces. There is also no need for a 2G certificate.
The reading rooms at Heldenplatz and the collections are closed on Sunday 5 June and Monday 6 June (Pentecoste) and Thursday 16 June (Corpus Christi).
In the museums the regular opening hours are valid.
On Tuesday 14 June 2022, the State Hall will be closed all day due to an event.
On Monday 27 June 2022, the State Hall will be closed all day due to an event.
On Tuesday 28 June 2022 the State Hall will be closed until 1 p.m. due to an event.
The State Hall will be closed for restoration work from July 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022. During this time, no guided tours or visits can take place in the State Hall. We ask for your understanding.
Alternatively, visit the museums of the Austrian National Library: the Literature Museum, the Papyrus Museum, the Globe Museum, the Esperanto Museum and the House of Austrian History look forward to your visit!
A modern training centre for all interested parties is being built in the library basement on Heldenplatz. At the same time, the entire public area in the basement is being completely renovated. Until probably September 2022, the basement will be closed due to the construction work. Library operations will continue uninterrupted.
Please note the following changes during the construction period:
- Large-format works will be issued at the book issue desk on the ground floor.
- Microforms can be used in the research zone on the ground floor, as can PCs and printouts from the web archive.
- The large format scanner is located in the copy corner.
