With the end of the hard lockdown, all facilities of the Austrian National Library will be reopened step by step: the State Hall and all museums open Tuesday, December 8 (opening times are Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.), the reading rooms on Heldenplatz and in the departments open on Wednesday, December 9 (the opening times at Heldenplatz are from Monday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., in the departments the regular opening times apply). Mouth and nose protection must be worn in all of these areas during the entire stay and the minimum distance must be observed.
Pre-orders in the catalog are possible from Friday, December 4, 8 a.m.
The mask requirement also applies to the reading area.
The communication lounge will remain closed until the end of 2020.
All loans outside the home have been extended up to and including December 13.
All annual tickets are automatically extended free of charge for the duration of the lockdown.
The reading rooms of the Austrian National Library are closed on public holidays – and therefore also on December 8, 24, 25, 26 an d 31 an January 1 an 6. We will inform you in good time about the opening times on all other days.
On December 24 the State Hall, the Literature Museum, the Globe Museum, the Esperanto Museum and the House of Austrian History will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. On all other days, including December 25, 26 and January 1 and additionally Monday, December 28 and Monday, January 4 the museums will be open during regular opening hours.
