Due to official requirements, the State Hall and all museums of the Austrian National Library and all reading rooms are expected to be closed until Sunday December 6.
Despite the closure of the reading rooms, we are available for research and reproduction inquiries from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.: on ++43 1 53410-444, by email at information@onb.ac.at or by » chat .
Research in the catalogue is still possible, but the order module has been switched off. You are welcome to use our » reproduction services and the portals in the » Digital Reading Room.
Local loans and interlibrary loans of works from other libraries are currently not offered. However, we send works via interlibrary loan to libraries that are allowed to keep open (e.g. university libraries).
Interlibrary loans have been extended up to and including December 13, 2020.
All valid annual tickets are extended free of charge for the duration of the lockdown.
Our range of training courses has been expanded to include webinars, you can find an overview of the current dates » here. We are happy to offer other individually agreed dates and training courses on pre-academic work for schoolchildren virtually. Information at: information@onb.ac.at.
The reading rooms of the Austrian National Library are closed on public holidays – and therefore also on December 8, 24, 25, 26 an d 31 an January 1 an 6. We will inform you in good time about the opening times on all other days.
On December 24 the State Hall, the Literature Museum, the Globe Museum, the Esperanto Museum and the House of Austrian History will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. On all other days, including December 25, 26 and January 1 and additionally Monday, December 28 and Monday, January 4 the museums will be open during regular opening hours.
