The special exhibit

In 2019 the Austrian National Library presents six "special exhibits" from their rich holdings, which for reasons of conservation can be exhibited only rarely in public. These fascinating objects are displayed in our State Hall.

“I couldn’t resist love”

until 29 September 2019 at the State Hall

These suicide notes, long thought to have been lost, cast light on the double suicide of the Austrian Crown PrinceRudolf and Mary Vetsera, at the same time disproving rumours spread by the Imperial family about the “Mayerling tragedy”.
