Bonvenon! Welcome!
The Department of Planned Languages of the Austrian National Library is home to the world’s largest specialist library for interlinguistics, documenting around 500 planned languages. In addition to Esperanto, the most important planned language in the world today, these also include Volapük, Ido, Interlingua and many others. In the department’s reading room, discover a whole host of books and magazines in planned languages, multifaceted archives and impressive musical recordings and films.
Please note that the Library at Heldenplatz and our collections are closed from Thursday 25 July until Monday 5 August 2019. For the State Hall and our museums the usual opening hours apply.
The reading rooms at the Library at Heldenplatz are closed on public holidays – and therefore also on Assumption Day (Thursday August 15). This is also valid for the reading rooms of our Departments. The museums are open on a regular basis.
