Bonvenon! Welcome!
The Department of Planned Languages of the Austrian National Library is home to the world’s largest specialist library for interlinguistics, documenting around 500 planned languages. In addition to Esperanto, the most important planned language in the world today, these also include Volapük, Ido, Interlingua and many others. In the department’s reading room, discover a whole host of books and magazines in planned languages, multifaceted archives and impressive musical recordings and films.
The reading rooms at the Library at Heldenplatz are closed on public holidays – and therefore also on Ascension Day (Thursday May 30), Pentecost (Sunday June 9 and Monday June 10) as well as on Corpus Christi (Thursday June 20). This is also valid for the reading rooms of our Departments. The museums are open on a regular basis – from June also on Mondays again.
