In order to keep up with the fast-paced technological and content-related changes in the information sector, the Austrian National Library offers a comprehensive programme of further education and training.
Together with the University of Vienna, it manages the inter-university course “Library and Information Studies (MSc)”, which has been offering an extra-occupational, practical-based education to become a scientific librarian since 2004. The title “Master of Science (MSc) Library and Information Studies” is conferred upon completion of the course.
As part of the “Brain Pool” further education programme, qualification measures are taken in the form of courses that impart fundamental knowledge in the field of library, information and documentation skills. The seminars are based on current topic areas; they are occupation-related and practical.
The services are available both to private individuals as well as organisations such as universities, private companies and authorities.
The Austrian National Library is an interface to other training institutions on a national and an international level, a contact partner for anyone interested, whether from Austria or abroad, and it organises subject-specific internships and excursions.
