Pencil, book and laptop. 10 items in writing today
What do a cat telephone, a card from Timbuktu and a song by Elvis Presley have in common? They are all motifs in contemporary Austrian literature. And you can see them all in the inaugural special exhibition at the Literature Museum “Pencil, book and laptop. 10 items in writing today”.
The show presents a dynamic picture of present-day Austrian literature. Ten writers present their work and their approaches to writing. Exciting insights into how a text is born, the biography of a writer and the “workshops” of present-day writers are guaranteed. You will find drawings, photographs, videos, film and theatre clips, collages and graphic work and learn about artistic partnerships.
Different media enrich literature by going beyond the boundaries of text. Find out how ideas can be built upon in different media and addressed in new formats: from audio notes to the plan for a novel, from research interview to audio play, from snapshot to a picture in words.
With contributions from Brigitta Falkner, Hanno Millesi, Richard Obermayr, Teresa Präauer, Kathrin Röggla, Ferdinand Schmatz, Clemens J. Setz, Thomas Stangl, Gerhild Steinbuch and Anna Weidenholzer. Curated by the author Angelika Reitzer and literary scholar Wolfgang Straub.
Until 12 February 2017.
