The Women’s Studies Documentation Centre

Ariadne at the Austrian National Library offers library-specific and documentary help to those who are looking for a common thread through the labyrinth of specifically women’s literature, theoretrical gender studies, and feminist literature and their fringe areas. Among the focuses of the work are the collecting and documentation as well as information on academic literature. In addition, Ariadne digitises historical documents on women’s matters and places them in full text online. The portal „Frauen in Bewegung, 1848-1918 und 1918-1938“ (Women on the Move, 1848-1918 and 1918-1938) presents biographies of important persons, women’s associations, picture material or relevant dates on women’s history, women’s enfranchisement movements, and many more.
