The "embellished" imprint

This copy of the Dialogi Sacrorum seems to have been cherished and well-used by its owners: The binding of embossed pigskin over wooden boards, with chased metal clasps and the title „Dialogos“ impressed in black, shows the marks of long usage. It bears owners’ marks and  notes here and there. The small ornament on the title page and some of the initials are hand-coloured in a somewhat crude fashion and possibly indicate a youthful reader, as do the „embellishments“ to the imprint on the last page (view image).
