Manuscripts

The table below offers an overview of the individual manuscript groupings of the Department. On the corresponding manuscript catalogues you can get information on a separate page. Shelfmarks of manuscripts registered in older catalogues but no longer in the holdings are found in the list of unoccupied shelfmarks. Occasionally the shelfmarks are still used in specialist literature – a database helps you to find out the correct shelfmark.

European manuscripts:

• Cod. 1-15000  = Codices (old holdings)
• Cod. Ser. n.1-50178 = Codices Series nova - new acquisitions from about 1870
